John A. Reder Presents — Raid Over Vectrexia! v1.0.0
This project draws inspiration from Will Wright’s groundbreaking 1984 title Raid on Bungeling Bay for the Commodore 64. Rather than attempting a direct port, I approached it as a reinterpretation—reshaping its core ideas to fit within the unique constraints and capabilities of the Vectrex.
And those constraints are very real.
The Vectrex’s vector display offers a striking visual style, but it also demands creative compromises. Every element—from movement to scale—had to be carefully reconsidered. What emerged isn’t a replica, but a distilled version of the original’s tension and strategy, rebuilt for an entirely different kind of hardware.
The setting is simple, but the stakes are high.
You are at war.
The island nation of Vectrexia is scattered across a chain of fortified outposts, making any large-scale assault nearly impossible. Instead, the burden falls on a single pilot—flying low over hostile territory, launching precision strikes against factories that fuel the enemy’s war machine.
Each bombing run matters. Every target destroyed weakens their ability to fight back.
You’re not entirely alone—an aircraft carrier stands ready offshore—but once you cross into enemy airspace, it’s just you, your helicopter, and whatever skill you can bring to bear under pressure.
It’s a game of attrition, precision, and survival… where one pilot can turn the tide of war.

Game Options:
The Aircraft Carrier is your base of operations. It restocks your bomb supply and repairs damage. Your Radar Cockpit will show its Strength ("ACS") and the direction to reach it. Protect it at all costs — lose it and you'll have no way to repair or resupply!
Enemies:
| Enemy | Description |
|---|---|
| Gun Patrol Boats & Tanks | Alert Jet Fighters when they spot you; part of enemy supply network |
| Radar Stations | Alert Jet Fighters to scramble when spotted; cannot damage you |
| Turrets | Fire self-guided electrified energy balls with limited range |
| Jet Fighters | Scramble after positive identification; fly fast attack routes |
| Bombers | Target your aircraft carrier for bombing runs |
| Guided Missiles | Launch from missile bases once you're identified as a threat |
| Battleship | Constructed in enemy shipyard; sets sail to destroy your carrier once complete |
